The Promise of Spring

Hello Northside Family!

What a beautiful Spring we have enjoyed here in the Wiregrass. The abundance of blooming azaleas, dogwoods, pear trees and rose bushes always seems to catch us off guard – even though it happens every year! But what a faithful reward for enduring the winter … the promise of Spring.

God has promised each of us as His children many things. His Word is filled with them … assurances of His faithfulness, His justice and His amazing love – just to name a few! Those promises are true and we can stand on them without falling. But perhaps He has placed a dream in your heart; something He has promised to do in and through your life. What do you do when winter comes and the dream seems to die? If you're like us, you can easily begin to wonder if it was just your imagination and if it will ever really happen?

Even though we may doubt these things in our 'winters', His promise is a promise. It is rooting, growing & being cultivated just under the surface, ready to burst forth in bloom at the changing of the season. John 12:24 says, "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest." That is some promise! If we will allow our dreams to 'die', not only will God bring it to life at the appropriate time, but it will flourish!

So be encouraged & have faith! Dream BIG dreams for God! May the soil of our hearts be enriched with His love and may our faith grow in the darkness of winter as we wait on His promise to break forth like Spring!

Daring to Dream,

Pastor Chris & Lisa

Hello Northside Family

Hello Northside Family!

Lisa & I cannot begin to tell you how excited we are to be @ Northside Methodist Church & Academy. We have never felt such a strong sense of destiny & purpose as we have in the first few weeks on campus. God is up to something BiG and we are honored to be a part of it.

You may be unaware that Northside originally only went through the 8th grade. I happened to be a student back in those old days, when we squeezed into a couple of trailers for our classes. The campus has come a long way, but the founding purpose remains the same. I am humbled and blown away by the privilege to return to Northside.

Over the last 2 years I have been given opportunities to substitute teach and speak in various chapel services. It was during these times that God began to deposit a love for these students and a healthy respect for the faculty & staff who serve them.

Parents, we want to thank you for choosing Northside as your child's Christian education. We don't take lightly the fact that you have entrusted us with such a tremendous responsibility. Your family is important to us and we pray for you every day!

May we each draw confidence from the Lord that the best is yet to come…

End Of Year 2009

I wanted to take a moment and just share what a blessing it has been to be a part of the ministry here at the school this year.  We are truly blessed to have an amazing group of students, a dedicated faculty and staff, and incredibly supportive parents.  If any of these were missing, Northside would not be the place that it is today.  Thank you to all of our students, parents, and teachers for making this such a wonderful year.

I wanted to take a moment to look back over the year and note some of the things that have happened in this year.  Our sports teams did very well.  Soccer went 12-1 in the fall and volleyball took 2nd in state.  JV and varsity basketball both took 3rd in state and girls basketball took 2nd!  We took 1st in state in high school boys and girls track, as well as junior high boys and girls track.  Our varsity baseball team won state for the fourth year in a row!  Our varsity softball team took 2nd in the state.  Our competition cheer squad took 2nd at a national competition.  We took 1st in the state in the ACEA Academic Cup.  We also took 1st in the state in the Fine Arts Cup.  Both our junior and senior Bible Quizzing teams took 1st place in State.  We had a number of individuals recognized for accomplishments in art, poetry, and other areas.  Our band won the state championship for the 7th year in a row!  One of our seniors was selected as one of two Outstanding Christian High School students in the state.  Our Spring Fling/Fun Run was a great time for all.

We also recently honored NMA’s teachers of the year for 2008-2009.  In the elementary, Carla Quattlebaum (6th grade teacher) was selected and in the high school, Lisa Purvee (mathematics) was chosen.  Congratulations to both of them for the high standards they maintain!  A big thanks to all of our faculty and staff for all the hard work they put in.  We’re looking forward to a great 2009-2010!!!

Thanks for the great year!
